From Anchorage to Whitehorse

On this tour you will experience the spectacular landscapes and National Parks of Alaska and Yukon. Follow the trails  of the old gold diggers and explorers. You will experience the massive mountain ranges and glaciers of the Northern American Continent. Your guide will lead you through wild and untouched territory where you can watch bears, wolves and caribous. Hike with a small group through the Denali National Park with its exciting wildlife. Only on foot can we experience the rugged beauty of this fascinating part of the                            Yukon and Alaska !

 

Arrival in Anchorage
Day 01: Individual arrival in Anchorage at the airport you will be meet by our local tour guide and transferred to the hotel.The rest of the day is free for optional sightseeing and touring in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. There are many interesting things to discover including Lake Hood, which is home to the largest float plane base in the world. Each day, some 800 floatplanes take off and land from this location in central Anchorage! Nearby is the Aviation Museum, where many legendary bush aircraft are on display. Downtown Anchorage offers excellent souvenir shopping at several American-style “malls”. Or if shopping is not your idea of a fun activity on holiday, how about a visit to one of the many pubs and locally crafted “micro” breweries?!

Homer
Day 02: After breakfast we will leave Anchorage. We will drive to Homer. Along the Turnagain Arm. Watch out for Dallsheep and Beluga whales. We continue on the Kenai Peninsula Highway I all the way to the end. Visit Ninilchick - russs. orth. church bevor we arrive in Homer. Capital of the halibut and the eagles. 2 nights in Homer.

Day 03: By bush plane to the coast of Katmai. Bearviewing at its best. The pilot, also the guide will take you closer to the bears. An unforgettable adventure.

Seward - boat tour
Day 04: We continue on the Kenai Peninsula to Seward. Here you board the boat which will take you to the glaciers. Also seals, seeotter, sealion can be seen on this tour. Very often even whales. Overnight in Seward.

Day 05:
Optional tour:
By helicopter to the glacier. the huskies are waiting. Take a dogsledtour on the glacier. Me your own musher. In the afternoon hike to the Exitglacier before we continue to Anchorage to overnight.

Anchorage - Denali National Park
Day 06: After breakfast we leave Anchorage. We drive through Matanuska Valley, Alaska's Farmland all the way to the entrance of the park. Denali National Park. This is one of the most remote regions in the north; few Alaskans have ever traveled this route. In the evening there is the option to participate to participate in a scenic one hour glacier flight that will provide a chance to view Mt. Denali, North America’s tallest peak (over 6000m!) in good weather.

Day 07: Without question, today will be another highlight of your trip. A national park shuttle bus takes us deep into one of the most scenic landscapes in North America. In good weather you can see majestic Mt. Denali; at 6193 meters it is the highest mountain in the USA. The wildlife in Denali is very impressive. With a little luck you will see all the wildlife on your list including wolves, Dall sheep, moose, caribou and even the mighty grizzly bear. Smaller animals such as fox and coyotes are often spotted on their forays while golden eagles and other birds of prey soar overhead. This is the Alaska of your dreams! Overnight accommodation in the vicinity of the park.

Fairbanks
Day 08: We continue the George Parks Highway to Fairbanks to overnight. We visit the village of Nenana on the way.

Fairbanks - Dawson City
Day 09: On the way to Dawson City we will stop in "Chicken". We continue on the Top of the World Highway where we also leave Alaska and cross the border to Canada. Dawson City offers a wide variety of historic sites which are easily accessi-ble on foot. At the end of the day we will visit the Diamond Tooth Casino featuring the Cancan-Dance girls.

Day 10:
Dawson City, famous from the gold rush time. Try your luck and wash for gold !

Dempster Highway
Day 11: After getting up real early we will drive up the Dempster Highway which is 730 km long and is the only connection to the peak of Inuvik at the Polar Sea. We will start our hike at the foot of the Tombstone Mountains; this will lead us into the tundra of this mountain range, where every sea-son has its unique attraction. Overnight in Dawson City.

Dawson City - Whitehorse
Day 12: On our way to Whitehorse we will stop at the Beringia Centre, a museum featuring prehistoric facts about the ice ages. On our way to Whitehorse we will travel parallel to the Yukon River, which is with 3200km one of the longest rivers in North America. Whitehorse is the biggest city and the capital of the Yukon Territories. 1 night in Whitehorse.

Day 13:  Transfer to airport or connecting program.

12 days through Alaska
Anchorage, Valdez, Denali, Fairbanks

DAY 1 - Fly into Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city. Transfer via hotel courtesy shuttle and overnight in downtown Anchorage. Meals: N/A

DAY 2 - Board the deluxe motor coach for today’s grand adventure to Valdez. Drive through the Matanuska Susitna Valley where world record monster size vegetables grow in the 24-hour daylight. Stop by Worthington Glacier for a look at this gigantic piece of ice. Early evening arrival into Valdez nestled between the waterfront and mountains, giving it the nickname, Alaska’s Little Switzerland. Dinner included this evening. Overnight Valdez.   Meals: B, D

DAY 3 – Enjoy on own exploration of this port community this morning with included entrance to the Valdez Museum. Today board a glacier and wildlife cruise and travel through the majestic Prince William Sound. Explore the three-mile face of the mighty Columbia Glacier and hear tales of the region as told by the Alaskan crew. Keep your eyes open for seals, sea lions, otters, whales, and puffins throughout this half-day exploration cruise with lunch included on the boat. Overnight Valdez.   Meals: CB, L

DAY 4 - Board the motor coach for a journey north to the largest city in the interior, Fairbanks; known to Alaskans as the Golden Heart City. The route takes you along the Wrangell- St. Elias National Park, the largest park in the U.S. and the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Overnight Fairbanks.  Meals: CB

DAY 5 - Today learn how the gold rush affected Alaska's interior on a sightseeing tour with an included visit to the University of Alaska, Fairbanks Museum. Time is available for shopping, walking or dining on your own in the downtown area. Cruise on the Chena River aboard a sternwheeler and experience the thrill of river travel. Travel back to the time when traditional riverboats plied the waterways of Alaska’s interior during the late 1800’s. Tonight, consider purchasing the optional authentic salmon bake. Overnight Fairbanks.  Meals: B

DAY 6 - Ride the motor coach south to Denali National Park. Enjoy an afternoon of exploring this pristine area at your leisure either participating in a complimentary park service activity or speak to your tour director to purchase optional tours such as mild or wild river rafting, flight seeing Mt. Denali, a jet boat safari on the Nenana River or a visit to the award winning dog kennels of Iditarod champion, Jeff King. Tonight, consider purchasing the optional Denali Dinner Theater. DAY 7 - Today travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour and search the pristine wilderness for bear, moose, caribou, and Dall sheep. This six to eight hour narrated journey provides insight into the animals, flora and fauna of this spectacular region including a snack on the bus. Early May & September tours are five hours due to road conditions. Overnight Denali.  Meals: B, S

DAY 8 - Enjoy a morning of leisure for on own exploration. This afternoon board the world famous Alaska Railroad for the day trip to Anchorage. Watch for a glimpse of the majestic Mt. Denali or black bear along the banks of the Susitna River. Overnight Anchorage.   Meals: B

DAY 9 - Enjoy a brief city tour of Anchorage, which includes the historic downtown district. Included visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center, a gathering place that celebrates, perpetuates and shares Alaska Native cultures. Tonight, feast on an Alaskan style dinner and share tales from the road with your traveling companions. Overnight Anchorage.  Meals: B, D

DAY 10 - Today we visit Girdwood/Alyeska – Alaska’s Skiarea. Visit Crow Creek Mine and try your luck. Wash for gold. We visit Big Game and take a walk to Byron glacier. Optional tours: by helicopter to the glacier. The huskies are waiting for you. Be your own musher or drive in the sled as a guest. An unforgettable adventure. Overnight in Girdwood. 2 nights.  Meals: B

Day 11 – Rafting tour to Spencer Glacier. By train and coach. A guided daytour.  Meals: B, L

ALASKA 2021
See Alaska by Train - the Alaska Railroad!

After your first night in Anchorage, board the Alaska Railroad for Seward and the KenaiPeninsula. Boat through the Gulf of Alaska to Kenai Fjords National Park.  Witness sea lions, eagles, puffins and the occasional whale and dolphin.Next, board the Alaska Railroad again for Whittier and a breathtaking cruise through Prince William Sound and more Alaska-sized ice cubes (glaciers).Head north to Talkeetna for a flight over Mt. Denali with glacier landing. Continue to Denali National Park and then to Fairbanks.Depart from Fairbanks to home or continue on to one of our other Alaska Adventure!

Anchorage
Day 1: Arrive in Anchorage. Transfer to accommodation.

Seward/Kenai Fjorde
Day 2: By train from Anchorage to Seward. By boat through the Gulf of Alaska and the Kenai Fjord. Sea otter, Sea lion, Eagle, Puffin can be seen on this tour. Watch out for Whales and Dolphins. Lunch will be served on the boat. Overnight in Seward.

Seward/Anchorage
Day 3: Optional tour: Guided tour to Exit glacier.Optional: Visit the town and Sea Life Center. By train back to Anchorage. Transfer to accommodation.

Spencer Glacier/Rafting Trip
Day 4: By train to Spencer glacier. Rafting tour at Spencer glacier and the River. Lunch will be served. Return by Train to Girdwood to overnight.

Alyeska / Alaska’s Skiarea
Day 5: Tour optional: by helicopter to the glacier. The huskies are waiting. Take a ride on the sled and be your own musher.The area is great for hiking and walking. Restaurant is on top of the mountain. You can get there by lift. Overnight in Girdwood.

Prince William Sound/Glacier world
Day 6: By train to Whittier. Continue by boat with an Alaska glacier tour through the Prince William Sound. A breathtaking adventure. Return by train back to Anchorage. Overnight.

Anchorage
Day 7: Day on your own in Anchorage. Visit the museum, the shops. Tours optional: Fly-out bearviewing. Fly-out fishing. Guided day tour to the Matanuska Valley. Alaska’s Farmland-visit the Hatcher Pass and the goldmine.

Talkeetna
Day 8: Trainride to Talkeetna. Transfer to the airport. Flight over Denali National Park and Mt. Denali with glacier landing. Overnight in Talkeetna.

Denali
Day 9: By train to Denali.The rest of the day on your own. Overnight outside of Denali park.

Denalipark
Day 10: By bus through the park. It will take 8 hours. Watch out for caribou, moose, bears. Continue by train to Fairbanks. 2 nights.

Fairbanks
Day 11: A day in Fairbanks. Optional tours: by Sternwheeler in the Nenana River, City tour, Chena Hot Springs.

End of the tour
Day 12: Transfer to airport. Flight back home from Fairbanks.Or continue on one of our other tours.

Day 8 - Going South by bus to the Kenai Peninsula. Along the Turnagain Arm. Watch out for dall sheep and whales. Optional tour: by helicopter to the glacier. The huskies are waiting. I you like you can be your own musher. In Seward visit the Exit glacier. Overnight in
Seward.  Meals: B

Day 9 -  Boattour at the gulf of Alaska. Sea otter, sea lion, eagle can be seen on this tour. And the calving glaciers. Return to Anchorage to overnight. Meals: B, L

Day 10 -  Transfer to the airport for the flight home or continue on one of our other tours.
