From Anchorage to Whitehorse

On this tour you will experience the spectacular landscapes and National Parks of Alaska and Yukon. Follow the trails  of the old gold diggers and explorers. You will experience the massive mountain ranges and glaciers of the Northern American Continent. Your guide will lead you through wild and untouched territory where you can watch bears, wolves and caribous. Hike with a small group through the Denali National Park with its exciting wildlife. Only on foot can we experience the rugged beauty of this fascinating part of the                            Yukon and Alaska !

 

Arrival in Anchorage
Day 01: Individual arrival in Anchorage at the airport you will be meet by our local tour guide and transferred to the hotel.The rest of the day is free for optional sightseeing and touring in Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska. There are many interesting things to discover including Lake Hood, which is home to the largest float plane base in the world. Each day, some 800 floatplanes take off and land from this location in central Anchorage! Nearby is the Aviation Museum, where many legendary bush aircraft are on display. Downtown Anchorage offers excellent souvenir shopping at several American-style “malls”. Or if shopping is not your idea of a fun activity on holiday, how about a visit to one of the many pubs and locally crafted “micro” breweries?!

Homer
Day 02: After breakfast we will leave Anchorage. We will drive to Homer. Along the Turnagain Arm. Watch out for Dallsheep and Beluga whales. We continue on the Kenai Peninsula Highway I all the way to the end. Visit Ninilchick - russs. orth. church bevor we arrive in Homer. Capital of the halibut and the eagles. 2 nights in Homer.

Day 03: By bush plane to the coast of Katmai. Bearviewing at its best. The pilot, also the guide will take you closer to the bears. An unforgettable adventure.

Seward - boat tour
Day 04: We continue on the Kenai Peninsula to Seward. Here you board the boat which will take you to the glaciers. Also seals, seeotter, sealion can be seen on this tour. Very often even whales. Overnight in Seward.

Day 05:
Optional tour:
By helicopter to the glacier. the huskies are waiting. Take a dogsledtour on the glacier. Me your own musher. In the afternoon hike to the Exitglacier before we continue to Anchorage to overnight.

Anchorage - Denali National Park
Day 06: After breakfast we leave Anchorage. We drive through Matanuska Valley, Alaska's Farmland all the way to the entrance of the park. Denali National Park. This is one of the most remote regions in the north; few Alaskans have ever traveled this route. In the evening there is the option to participate to participate in a scenic one hour glacier flight that will provide a chance to view Mt. Denali, North America’s tallest peak (over 6000m!) in good weather.

Day 07: Without question, today will be another highlight of your trip. A national park shuttle bus takes us deep into one of the most scenic landscapes in North America. In good weather you can see majestic Mt. Denali; at 6193 meters it is the highest mountain in the USA. The wildlife in Denali is very impressive. With a little luck you will see all the wildlife on your list including wolves, Dall sheep, moose, caribou and even the mighty grizzly bear. Smaller animals such as fox and coyotes are often spotted on their forays while golden eagles and other birds of prey soar overhead. This is the Alaska of your dreams! Overnight accommodation in the vicinity of the park.

Fairbanks
Day 08: We continue the George Parks Highway to Fairbanks to overnight. We visit the village of Nenana on the way.

Fairbanks - Dawson City
Day 09: On the way to Dawson City we will stop in "Chicken". We continue on the Top of the World Highway where we also leave Alaska and cross the border to Canada. Dawson City offers a wide variety of historic sites which are easily accessi-ble on foot. At the end of the day we will visit the Diamond Tooth Casino featuring the Cancan-Dance girls.

Day 10:
Dawson City, famous from the gold rush time. Try your luck and wash for gold !

Dempster Highway
Day 11: After getting up real early we will drive up the Dempster Highway which is 730 km long and is the only connection to the peak of Inuvik at the Polar Sea. We will start our hike at the foot of the Tombstone Mountains; this will lead us into the tundra of this mountain range, where every sea-son has its unique attraction. Overnight in Dawson City.

Dawson City - Whitehorse
Day 12: On our way to Whitehorse we will stop at the Beringia Centre, a museum featuring prehistoric facts about the ice ages. On our way to Whitehorse we will travel parallel to the Yukon River, which is with 3200km one of the longest rivers in North America. Whitehorse is the biggest city and the capital of the Yukon Territories. 1 night in Whitehorse.

Day 13:  Transfer to airport or connecting program.
